Visitors are fitted with miner's hard hats, cap lamps and battery belts. The cap lamps are the only lights underground except for two, which highlight the shaft to the water. Good walking shoes and light jackets are recommended. The mine workings are not ADA compliant and walking 180 feet of entrance ramp is ordinarily required; however, visitors with limited mobility may be accommodated for much of the tour. Anyone can turn around at any time. Schedules and fees vary, so be sure to contact the Museum to plan your tour before you go.
