The South Butte TEDD was approved by the Butte-Silver Bow Council of Commissioners in 2016 with a Tax Increment Financing provision (TIF) and has a base year of 1/1/2017. TIF is a state authorized, locally driven funding mechanism that allows cities and counties to direct property tax dollars that accrue from new development, within a specifically designated district, to community and economic development activities. The area in the South Butte TEDD was determined to have infrastructure deficiencies that limit the potential for new investment and possible expansion by existing businesses. The South Butte TEDD encompasses the area between South Parkmont Road and Fat Jack Road, and along Basin Creek Road (Highway 2). In order to include properties within a TEDD, they must be properly zoned and be in conformance with the Butte-Silver Bow Growth Policy.
The TEDD Board recently approved hiring WET for an infrastructure analysis to help prioritized future capital expenditures for infrastructure development.
