Zoning

Butte-Silver Bow's City-County zoning is determined through public processes and is intended to govern the use and development of land in Butte and Silver-Bow County. The primary purpose of zoning is to protect and promote the public health, safety and general welfare for people living and operating in Butte-Silver Bow. Zoning districts specify a category of uses and standards, and are applied by ordinance. Zoning district boundaries are shown geographically on the land use maps linked below. Details on all zoning requirements are described in Butte-Silver Bow Municipal Code, Title 17. The Zoning Board of Adjustment governs variances and special use permits.
