Fingerprinting

Numerous entities are required to be fingerprinted for background checks, for example people employed by the school district, bank tellers, mortgage lenders, explosives permits, private security, daycare providers, foster care providers, adoption services, Department of Health and Human Services, as well as other entities.

Requirements

  • A photo ID is required
  • Do not fold, crease, bend, staple, or spindle the fingerprint card
  • Do not attempt to fill out the card
  • Know how many cards are needed
  • All prints are $20 – cash or check – with the exception of school district applicants which are $15
  • Know the employer’s name and address
  • Know the reason you are being fingerprinted – NCPA, DFHHS, employee contract, or number code
  • Blue card #FD258 only

DNA Buccal Swabbing

The Butte-Silver Bow Law Enforcement Department is mandated by MCA Section 44-6-101 to perform DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) buccal swabbing for any felony offense required by MCA 46-23-502.

Schedule an Appointment

DNA buccal swabs are taken at 225 Alaska Street, Butte, Monday through Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. By appointment only. To schedule an appointment for DNA buccal swabbing, contact Civil Deputy Bolton at 406-497-1186.

Requirements

The applicant is required to have a face sheet from a parole officer or Montana State I.D. card or current driver’s license with a photograph and your AO number. A $20 fee will be charged when the DNA swab is taken.
