Recycling
The Butte Landfill accepts the following: automotive batteries, cardboard, metals, yard waste, antifreeze and used oil.
Wal-Mart, 3901 Harrison Ave, has recycling bins for newspaper/magazines, plastic, and plastic bags.
Pacific Steel can accept corrugated cardboard (for a small fee) as well as metal at 905 Gaylord Street, 406-782-0402.
Metal can also be recycled at H & H Trading, 804 S. Arizona St, 406-782-4962.
Curbside Recycling
McGree Trucking operates a curbside recycling pickup service for a small monthly fee. Materials accepted include: plastics (#1 & #2), aluminum & steel cans, newspaper/magazines, paper, and cardboard.
Recycling Electronics
The Butte community can recycle electronic equipment at the following locations:
- Staples at 3636 Harrison Ave, 406-494-1000, and visit the Staples website for more information on their recycling programs.
- Pacific Steel at 905 Gaylord Street, 406-782-0402.
The National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT, 3040 Continental Drive) also holds an annual electronics recycling event in June. For more information on that event, contact 800-275-6228 or visit the NCAT website at www.ncat.org.
