Assessor

Auditor

The Auditor is an elected position. The Auditor's Office provides the  City and County of Butte-Silver Bow with an internal auditing capacity.  The Auditor is required by law to examine all accounts and payrolls of  Butte-Silver Bow. Internal audits are also required of certain smaller  school districts within the county.

The Assessor is an elected position. The Assessor is responsible for assessing personal property and business taxes, keeps tax parcels and records, checks records for accuracy, issues refunds, and submits state reports for the State of Montana Department of Revenue.

Clerk and Recorder

Clerk & Recorder

The Clerk and Recorder is an elected position and is responsible for maintaining the official records of the City and County of Butte-Silver Bow and also serves as the government's Chief Election Officer. The Clerk and Recorder processes all vouchers and writes warrants approved by the Council of Commissioners' Finance and Budget Committee.

Finance & Budget

The Finance & Budget Office is dedicated to providing efficient cost savings for the City-County. The office is responsible for annual finance reporting of the City-County's expenditures.

Government Buildings

The Courthouse (located at 155 West Granite, Butte, Montana) was dedicated in 1912. At that time, Butte was the state's center of political and financial power.

Human Resources

The Human Resources Department is committed to providing effective customer service to all departments, employees, and constituents of Butte-Silver Bow County through the timely delivery of innovative, quality human resources systems, programs, and services.

Information Technology

The mission of the Information Technology Department is to provide sustainable, scalable, efficient, secure, and cost-effective IT infrastructure and services to essential county needs and programs.

Superintendent of Schools

The County Superintendent of Schools, an elected position, has served the county since 1880. This position works to meet the requirements of the government bodies of Butte-Silver Bow County and the State of Montana.
