The main landfill is located several miles west of Butte off of Interstate-90. The facility is just north of Rocker, approximately 1 mile from the I-90/Rocker interchange, at 121074 N Browns Gulch Road.
Main Landfill: Open 7 days a week, year round, Sunday - Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 5:50 p.m. So you know, you have to have your truck or trailer unloaded and be out of Area C, the Main Landfill, before 5:30 p.m. Small household garbage will be accepted till 5:45 p.m. at the bins behind the Scale House. No trailers allowed at bins. Gates are locked at 5:50 p.m. The BSB Landfill is closed on all government holidays (New Year’s Day, Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr., Washington’s Birthday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day , Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day.)
After Hours Disposal: Open May - October, Sunday - Saturday 5:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. This location is for small household loads only. No commercial loads, no large loads, no trailers, no tires, no appliances. Gates are locked at 8:00 p.m.
Butte-Silver Bow works with local businesses and non-profit organizations to provide the community with the best possible recycling service options. The Butte Landfill accepts the following: antifreeze, automotive batteries, cardboard, metals, oil, and yard waste.
Cover and Secure Your Load
Lets all do our part to keep our county clean. Leave your trash at the landfill, not along the roadside. Municipal Code 8.08.030 requires you to cover and secure your load with a tarp. Failure to do so will result in a $100.00 fine.
All garbage, rubbish, and trash produced through typical residential activity.
Special waste items such as asbestos or large dead animals may be disposed of at the landfill under special arrangements by calling (406) 782-1463.

*USED MOTOR OIL will be accepted at the landfill. Please bring used oil in clean plastic sealed containers of 5 gallons or less that can be left at the landfill.
