  1. History of the Butte Health Department

    October 22, 2018, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM @ Archives Building

In conjunction with the Butte-Silver Bow Health Department, the Butte Archives is hosting a special Brown Bag Lunch on Monday, October 22. Ellen Crain will present a talk about the history of public health in Butte. Staff from the Health Department will be on hand following the talk to administer flu shots. From the establishment of the first health ordinance and appointment of a city health officer in 1879 to its present role educating the public on health issues, monitoring environmental issues, offering food and consumer safety services, immunization programs, health screenings, and disaster and emergency planning, the Health Department has been a consistent and vital presence in Butte. The presentation will begin at noon and run about an hour at the Archives, 17 W. Quartz. Guests are encouraged to bring a sack lunch. Coffee and water will be provided.
