    Join the Archives on October 20, 2017, at 6:30 pm for a night of food and drink, live and silent auctions featuring one-of-a-kind images, music, and more--all with a focus on photographs and photography. All proceeds will benefit the preservation of the historic C. Owen Smithers Photograph Collection and make them publicly available in their home--Butte, Montana. Food will be provided by Butte Hill Catering, drinks by The Times. Tickets are $50 per individual or $80 per couple. Tickets can be purchased at the Archives, 17 W.   2. Brown Bag Lunch and Movie with Sara Sparks

    October 25, 2017, 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM @ Archives Building

    The Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives will continue its Brown Bag Lunch series on Wednesday, October 25, with a discussion led by Sara Sparks and a special presentation of the 2016 Butte film, Worth the Wait by Dick Many and B.J. McKenzie. The movie documents the 30 years of reclamation of more than a hundred years of mining and smelting wastes that accumulated in the upper Clark Fork River Basin in Montana, from mines in Butte to the smelters in Anaconda all the way to the Milltown Dam near Missoula. Even though the cleanup continues today, and some areas will require treatment forever, the extent of what has been accomplished is striking for what seemed to be an overwhelming task 30 years ago. Sara will address questions and continue the discussion following the movie. She is a Remedial Project Manager for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
