The Law Enforcement Advisory Board has the authority to advise and make recommendations to the Law Enforcement Department through the sheriff on issues concerning public safety and law enforcement services within the city-county. For more details on the board, refer to Butte-Silver Bow Municipal Code, Chapter 2.26. There are nine (9) members of the board. Three (3) of the members appointed shall be members of the Council of Commissioners, three (3) members shall be appointed from the Law Enforcement Department, and three (3) members from the citizenship. The Chief Executive is the appointing authority, with concurrence by the Council of Commissioners, and members serve a four (4) year term. This board was appointed for the first time in April 2007 and the initial terms were staggered according to ordinance.
