County Attorney

Services & Responsibilities
The County Attorney is an elected position. The County Attorney's Office prosecutes criminal cases within the City and County of Butte-Silver Bow. It serves as legal adviser to the governing bodies of local, state, and school districts.

The activities of the office include
  • Prosecution of criminal cases in the city, justice, district, and juvenile courts;
  • Representing the city and county on all criminal and civil appeals to the Montana Supreme Court and federal courts;
  • Issuing legal opinions upon submission of an authoritative request;
  • Handling certain victim abuse complaints and family violence.
